Our Inital Response's

Magazine Cover by Isabel
Magazine Cover: This is a magazine cover that I made using Photoshop. I chose to choose one of our aspects, which was how beauty is represented in other cultures around the world. I chose an image that is very striking which I think perfectly suits the magazine. I think that the name of the magazine cover being 'Ethnic', works really well because you can clearly see straight away what our idea concept was. The colors that I chose are effective because they all complement the striking magazine cover photograph. I edited the photograph slightly in Photoshop which adds to the image as whole. Overall the design, text and image on the magazine cover all work in harmony together to showcase a very striking magazine cover response.

Poster: For this initial response I was playing around with theme of "You don't know the half of it", we discussed this theme as a group and I decided to take it and see what I could do. I began to think about how I look different when I am out to when I am at home. If I am going out I will put make up on, perfume and dress up. This process takes time and it is something anyone can relate to. When we take in someone's appearance we don't give any thought to how long it took for that person to look that way or the process that they had to go through to get where they are now. We don't see the effort they put into getting themselves ready for the day. I took a photo of what my bed looks like just after I started getting ready for a party. I put grey text over the image repetitively. It's a mess. But to anyone who say me that night, they would not think about the process that I went through. I wanted the typeface that I used to reflect the untidiness of the situation.

Stamp by Esmee
Stamp: I decided to make a stamp, as our initial idea was beauty around the world. And stamps go around the world. I wanted it to be geometric because I always loved artists like Picasso and I used him as inspiration for my stamp. I wanted it to be gender neutral, so I didn't add much colour. I didn't want the figure to be identifiable as a man or woman so it could represent everyone.

Our first Initial Response made in class.
Stamp: We decided to make a logo as another response. We wanted to convey 'beauty around the world' literally so we drew a globe and coloured in different continents. Each continent is a different colour to represent their individuality.
